Animal Flow is a Quadrupedal Movement Training (QMT) system designed to improve the performance, resilience and function of the “human animal”.
Though Quadrupedal Movement Training can sound quite scientific, it can easily be explained as movements that require both hands and feet in contact with the ground. This type of training introduces unique loads to the tissues and joints that cannot be replicated through traditional styles of training. Each class progressively builds into a Flow, where the movements learned are connected seamlessly together to allow a fluid transfer of motion and energy.
Animal Flow is the perfect compliment to the linear practices of Yoga and Bodyweight Strength Training.
Power Vinyasa is a strength-focused class with controlled movements, integrating our stillness practice through challenging holds and a strong emphasis on your breath. You will synchronize one breath with one movement, maintaining breath control during the more challenging holds. This class aims to leave you feeling focused, aligned, and in control. All levels welcomed, non-heated.
Our Bodyweight Strength Training classes offer a systematic and progressive approach to using your own bodyweight to develop muscular strength, power and endurance – essential attributes to a healthy physique.
Each class incorporates traditional bodyweight movements like push-ups, pull-ups, squats and core exercises, but enhances them by altering the progressions, tempos and reps. This customized approach allows each student to work at their own ability level and overcome any plateaus associated with bodyweight-only training.
This class is for anyone who would like to explore floorwork techniques and develop a partnership with the floor. We begin class with somatic movements, then move into exploring body alignment, weight shifting, release technique and inversions. Students will learn to transition through space, move in and out of the floor with awareness, control and fluidity. This class is appropriate for any level student.
(Long sleeves and pants are HIGHLY recommended.)
